Sig I just cannot listen this absolute beautiful album without thinking about the "same" atmosphere I feeled when I saw this beloved movie : "Der müde Tod" by Fritz Lang (1921).

Many thanks for this musical pearl, Brutus Greenshield.

sisterbutcher nothing transports me to my medieval attic study faster than this album. Favorite track: Lichen-Mantled Throne.

charnel moon The shadows grow long my friend, and the days journey wears on my aching feet. Let us overnight here. We've still miles to go before we reach the Charnel Keep, and I don't like fighting tired. Favorite track: High Elms Trembling.

Ulvmåne Absolutely captivating masterpiece. You could just feel every detail slowly enclosing you into its realm and just lay there.. in a trance.

about

Brutus Greenshield's newest full length record, Sharpened Buds Like Lances, signals a shift in the project's conceptual focus and an expansion of its sonic palette -- while maintaining the essential blend of organic and synthetic, atmospheric and melodic, which the duo has built its sound upon with previous releases. Sharpened Buds Like Lances, though still as steeped in medieval fantasy and forgotten pasts, finds Brutus Greenshield's musical imagination moving away from the strife and isolation of human conflicts into the realm of the natural world. It presents an image of nature left alone, an ambiguous scene of overgrowth not promising but melancholic and fraught. Here, trees, water and stones serve as conduits for the project's vision of a spectral world where circuits and pixels meld with crumbling structures and disembodied breaths.
